Cinderford Seek Away Win v Loughborough Students
Saturday 30 November (KO 2.00pm — National 1)

Looking to repeat their feisty 39 − 32 win over Fylde last Saturday where the Foresters picked up 5 much needed points, this weekend sees an away trip to Loughborough Students with Cinderford travelling in a very positive frame of mind. The Students had a had fought win over Hull Ionians that saw them retain their mid-table 8th position while Cinderford rose to 12th position.

With a desire to secure that away win trophy, director of rugby, Andy Deacon, said “Saturday’s game will be another stern test for us, and, as the results are showing, there is no easy game in this hard national league. When we met the Students last season, our encounters were close and tough, bruising affairs. We have had a solid week in training with a focus on eliminating discipline issues.”

“Last week’s game was a bizarre affair really. At the start we seemed to be doing our best to lose a game we were more than capable of winning. But the good thing about it is that the guys really stepped up. There were a host of players coming back in to good form and you could see their body language was so much better. We were playing with confidence. And beating a top five side like Fylde gives you even more.”

“But we must sort out our ill-discipline and every yellow card the referee produced was rightly so, to both us and Fylde. That said, overall I was very pleased with the performance and work rate, and it was a good result for the team.”
“This next two games against Loughborough and Tynedale are very important. Loughborough is solid, they have won more than they have lost so far and they play a nice brand of rugby, especially at home. I expect them to be similar to Fylde; they will play an offloading game, pass early, throw it wide and keep the ball in hand, so we will have to understand that and determine how we are going to play.”

There are just a few changes to the side this week. Stef Hawley returns to the wing with Robbie Winchle makes hist First XV appearance on the bench, coming back after injury. Will Davis starts at loose head with Chris Bundy moving to the bench on player rotation. Gloucester loan player Tom Heard, comes back in at tight head. Elliot Booley misses one week with a ban following 3 cards. Roger Birkin comes on to bench, while Alex Pickersgill and Danny Pointon are both unavailable.

Other #teamcindy news sees the Stags competing to maintain their top of the table position held jointly with this Saturday’s opponents, Dings Knights. The Stags are looking to gain additional points and storm into a secure lead. Tensions will be high for both teams as each hopes to build on their unbeaten records and compete for first position in the Gloucestershire Reserves League, Premier Division, currently dominated by the Stags but with the Knights leading the way on points difference. KO is at 2.30pm, at Dings home ground

Good luck to all teams.
