Cinderford in must win game away to Coventry RFC
Saturday 22 December (National 1 KO 3pm)

This weekend Cinderford travels away with a dogged determination to get that much needed win as the first half of the season draws to a close for Christmas.
In a frustrating loss last weekend to Loughborough which saw the Foresters storm ahead in the first half but fall behind in a disappointing second half, the team has the energy and confidence to gain valuable points and get back up the league table from seventh.

Said Andy Deacon, director of rugby: “This will be a difficult game as Coventry are usually strong at home and they will be smarting after 3 losses on the bounce. So this game will have added importance for them given the fact they gave a disappointing display at Sedgley Tigers.”

“On behalf of the coaches I just wanted to say thanks to Gloucester Rugby Paul Moriarty who was our guest coach again at training and worked on defensive alignments and our kick chase strategy. It was also a case of reinforcing our all round game plan / shape.”

“This week there are just a few changes to the side that see Mike Wilcox move back to full back and Mark Davies return after injury to ten. Nev Codlin also returns to his starting position now that he is match fit and Kai Done replaces Rob W who has a foot injury at twelve. Tom Bozzard returns after a groin injury as hooker and hoping to maintain his good form shown recently. Chris Bundy comes onto the bench having played well for United as does Dewi Scourfield and Ed King. George Evans sits on the bench as back row cover.”

“We have a training session planned during the holidays to keep fitness levels and team bonding high, ahead of our next fixture on January 5 at home against Rosslyn Park. It just leaves me to wish you all a happy Christmas and all good wishes for a healthy and successful new year.”

Back at Cinderford the club is having a fund raising weekend in aid of The RFU Injured Players Foundation with a disco on the Saturday night at 8pm and a fun Quiz night on Sunday, check the website for more details.
