Cinderford produced a terrific team performance to score seven tries and overcome the challenge of Redruth in a highly entertaining encounter.

The home side had to defend their line in the early stages of the match, but they gradually moved up field and opened the scoring when flanker Lewis Beer forced his way over from close range, with Alex Frame converting.  More pressure near their opponent’s line saw Frame extend the lead with two penalties, before second-row Roger Birkin peeled off a driving maul to score a try to make it 18-0 after 22 minutes.

Redruth responded with a try from Kyle Marriott, which Neilson Webber converted, but Cinderford hit back when Ed Bogue showed good skills to score an unconverted try. Then on the stroke of half-time a kick ahead and chase led to winger Jack O’Connell scoring the home side’s bonus point try, which was well converted from the touchline by Frame.

Second-row Sean Buzza scored early in the second-half for Redruth, but once again Cinderford replied when Reuben Norville scored a converted try following a tremendous passage of play to make it 37-12 after 57 minutes.  When the ball fell loose another kick ahead and chase ended in Norville scoring his second try, which was again converted by Frame.

The Cornishmen scored their third try when flanker Sam Matavesi finished off a series of pick and goes in the closing stages, with Webber landing the conversion. There was still time however for O’Connell to score his second try, when he won yet another kick ahead and chase from deep inside his own half to complete an impressive victory for the Forest side.
