Cinderford began their preparations for the new season with a comfortable victory over Division 2 (North) side Hinckley.

The first-half was closely fought with the home side opening the scoring after 18 minutes of play, when the referee awarded them a penalty try following a series of scrum infringements by their opponents.  The visitors quickly responded with a well taken try in the corner, which went unconverted and this was to prove their only score in the match.  Some excellent handling by the Cinderford backs then created the opportunity for winger Reuben Norville to score a try, which was well converted by Stef Hawley, to give them a 14-5 advantage at the interval.

The home side fielded a completely different team in the second-half and soon increased their lead when outside-half Carwyn Penny stepped inside to score a try, which James Moffat converted.
Hooker Sam Baker was next to score from a lineout catch and drive, before No8 Matt Lane showed good pace to beat the cover defence, with Moffat landing both conversions.  Terence Babarinsa scored a sixth try for Cinderford ten minutes before time as his team completed a very promising display.
