Cinderford caused a huge upset as they toppled league leaders Ealing Trailfinders in dramatic fashion at the Beavis Memorial Ground.

With the home scrum under some early pressure Ealing opened the scoring when second-row Mike Walker-Fitton charged over for an unconverted try.  Cinderford responded with a well taken try in the far corner from centre Sam Hanks, which James Moffat converted excellently from the touchline. Ealing regained the lead when they created an overlap and prolific try scorer Phil Chesters touched down after 33 minutes of play, and this proved to the final score of the first-half.

Moffat was on target with two penalties in the early stages of the second-half to put the home side back in front, but the visitors soon replied when No8 Tom Brown finished off a lineout catch and drive from his forwards.  The home side hit back with a terrific score when Mike Wilcox chipped ahead, re-gathered and released Hanks to score his second try under the posts, with Moffat converting.

Ealing secured a bonus point with their fourth try, again from a lineout catch and drive, with flanker Arthur Ellis awarded the score. Ben Ward landed the conversion to put his side 22-20 ahead after 67 minutes.  Cinderford took the game right back to their opponents and when the referee adjudged Ealing to have collapsed a driving maul, he awarded a penalty try, which Moffat converted.

The league leaders camped themselves deep in their opponents territory for the remainder of the match, and the ball went through endless phases before a knock-on signaled the start of huge celebrations for the home side.
