Wharfedale full-back Jamie Guy held his nerve to convert Chris Howick’s second try with the last kick of the match and earn his team in dramatic draw in this bottom of the table encounter.

Cinderford opened the scoring after ten minutes when George Mills touched down from a lineout catch and drive, with Mike Wilcox converting.  The visitors responded with a well taken try from their outside-half Will Bell, which Guy converted, but Cinderford soon reclaimed the lead when Marcus Brown was driven over the line, with Wilcox again converting.

Wharfedale drew level again in first-half injury time when the referee controversially awarded them a penalty try, which Guy converted, when the home side were adjudged to have infringed at a 5m scrum.

The visitors went ahead for the first time in the match early in the second half, when Howick finished off a well executed catch and drive. Mills then responded in similar fashion for Cinderford, before the home went back in front after 65 minutes of play with a try from second-row Jerry Sexton, which Wilcox converted.

Cinderford looked as though they would hold on to claim a much needed victory, until they conceded a number of penalties in the closing stages which enabled Wharfedale to get in a position to earn themselves the draw.
