A last gasp try from Tom Whitely earned Rosslyn Park a victory and brought heartbreak for Cinderford who looked to be on course to cause an upset.

The early signs were not good for the home side as the visitors crossed for two unconverted tries in the opening as first No8 Sam Shires and then Whitely touched down.  Cinderford responded when they kicked a penalty into the corner and from the ensuing lineout Marcus Brown was on hand to score the try.

The home side repeated the feat on the half hour when George Mills finished off another catch and drive.  Just before the interval Whitely was on target with a penalty to put Park 13-10 ahead at half-time.

There was a dramatic start to the second-half when home full-back Augey Slowik made the break that enabled winger Nev Codlin to go over for a try, and put Cinderford ahead, with Mike Wilcox landing the conversion.

As conditions worsened both side’s struggled to retain possession for the remainder of the match and it appeared that Cinderford would hold on to claim a much needed victory, but deep into injury time Whitely’s quickly taken penalty saw him race over to score his second try, which he also converted much to the relief of his teammates.
