Ladies Section

About
Girls rugby at Cinderford started in 2006/07 season and has flourished in this very short period it has also seen the girls produce some outstanding performances in this very short time. They have picked up the basics of Rugby very quickly and are now starting to put some of the more technical skills into practice in their games. We will have a squad of around 20 U18’s next season but are desperately short of U15’s and will be looking to recruit.
We have gained some extra players at U15 level late on in the season and they have been a revelation having only played around 4 games but already showing lots of promise. They will be moving up to the U18’s next season.
This season has seen Cinderford Ladies produce six County players.

Tyne Hill
One of them (Tyne Hill) playing all 3 County Games at U15 level.

They have brought this experience back to the club and the younger players are now responding to this. In fairness if it hadn’t been for other commitments outside of school i.e. school course work and such we could have boasted South West Regional girls this year. We have also had two of our more experienced girls invited to an England training camp but unfortunately not progress any further. These were

Leading try scorers this season were U15’s – Jess Hale (6 tries) and U18’s – Heidi Beddinton (9 tries) infact Heidi was tying with Olivia Williams on 6 tries each with only 2 games remaining but managed to pull away.

The future is looking extremely bright for Cinderford Ladies and seems to be going from strength to strength. Next season Lyd and myself will be looking to push on and get the girls to step up a level with more intensive coaching and also having guest coaches such as Pete Glanville and Andy Deacon from the first team. I feel this is a step in the right direction and shows the commitment the club and coaches are prepared to make, to ensure that Cinderford Ladies continue to progress and achieve their own personal development within the game.
