Cinderford U7, 8 and 9’s vs Drybrook
Cinderford U9’s vs Drybrook
On Sunday 15 November, Cinderford played two games against Drybrook. The sides were very evenly contested with the difference between the sides being the referee, who being the Cinderford coach was probably harder on his own team! Drybrook won both games by three tries to two.
In the first game, Cinderford won the toss and decided to play down the hill. Cinderford had Drybrook under pressure for a large proportion of the half, but Drybrooks defence was strong. Towards the end of the half Drybrook made a couple of excursions up the hill to score two tries.
In the second half Cinderford made four changes to ensure all played and they soon equalised through tries from Jack Worgan and Harrison Peates. Caleb Whitmore made some strong runs through the middle of Drybrooks defence to set up good field position. Late on, Drybrook scored their winning try as Cinderfords defence was stretched committing too many to a maul.
The second game saw Cinderford exert good pressure on Drybrook and take a two tries to nil lead by half time. Scott Hodder and Jack Worgan scoring for Cinderford. With more changes at half time, Cinderford looked a little disorganised and Drybrook cam back into the game with two tries. The Cinderford players disputed the second try after a magnificent tackle by Michael Saunders, they thought the ball had been dropped over the line. Without a fourth official and video playback the referee gave the benefit of the doubt to Drybrook.
Late on a scrum to Drybrook was awarded in their own half. Winning the scrum the Drybrook scrum half scampered down the blind side to score the winning try.
Worthy of a mention for Cinderford are William Salter and Lewis Mason who played exceptionally well.
