Sweet 16 for rampant Foresters
MANCHESTER RFC 3 v 93 CINDERFORD RFC
CINDERFORD recorded their first win of the season in emphatic style after running in 16 tries at National One whipping boys Manchester.
As expected, Manchester did not pose any threat and Cinderford took the opportunity to put the hosts to the sword with free-flowing running rugby that was rewarded with a bonus point.
Dewi Scourfield began the rout after a minute following a great step inside by Phil Greenaway to release him, with Alistair Bressington converting.
Six minutes later Paul Knight got his first try after George Evans broke off the back of a five-metre scrum and Bressington added another two points.
Will Foden made light work of Manchester’s defence a minute later by running in from halfway and Bressington was again on target.
Evans brought up the bonus point on 14 minutes when he spotted the ball was out of a Manchester ruck near their line and dived over.
Bressington made it four from four and Manchester recorded their only points of the match after 19 minutes with a penalty.
Adam Nicholls continued the annihilation three minutes later after lots of good hands and passing with Bressington successful again.
Reuban Haille went over in a corner five minutes later for try number six , Dave Bufton reached over for number seven on 34 minutes and Bressington converted once.
Knight then got a four-minute double just before half-time with one of Bressington’s kicks making it 59-3 at the break.
Cinderford took their foot off the gas in the second half, waiting seven minutes before Haille scored in the corner, with the extras missed.
But the Foresters then created their best score of the match five minutes later with Haille the scorer again.
The move began in their own 22 and included several pairs of hands breaking with pace up the field, but again Bressington was off target.
Evans got his second try from a quick tap penalty on 56 minutes, with Bressington’s bad run continuing.
He missed again following Luke Plummer’s try on 72 minutes.
But finally converted following Haille’s try after a fantastic Evans break with three minutes remaining.
Chris Jones dotted under the posts for number 15 two minutes later, giving Bressington an easy kick.
Substitute Mike Wilcox then rounded the Manchester defence with the last action of the game.
